THE INN VILLAGE - Scott's Ferry where BLESS INN you will find at No. 1917, the perfect little Kiwi bach at the beach! Proudly marketed by teamlewis.co.nz
Scott's Ferry is perfectly placed if you enjoy your privacy and the outdoor life.
There are beautiful walking tracks. You can walk along the stop bank and along the Rangitikei river. There are several tracks for walking through the forestry and there is 25 km of beach coast line and sand dunes to walk along. You can also walk along the flat land below the carpark behind the sand dunes and observe all the different birds; this leads to the river mouth where spoon bills, herons, dotterells, oyster catchers and many other birds gather.
There are plenty of push bike tracks in the forestry.
There are plenty of tracks and 25 km of beach front for motor bikes, 4 x 4s, horses or walking the dog.
When the tide is high the lagoon below the carpark fills with water from the river and the wading birds all come in at night. It's lovely to go down and watch and listen to them calling in the evening.
You can drive along and fish the 25 km of coast line from the Rangitikei river mouth at Scott's Ferry to Koitiata beach
Long lining is very popular with plenty of snapper, kingfish, gurnard, kahawai, trevally, skate, lemonfish caught.
Surf casting for kahawai and snapper along the coast is also popular.
Setting a net in the river for flounder and kahawai produces well. You can also catch flounder by dragging a net or spotting them with a torch at night.
Whitebaiting season is from August to November. The Rangitikei river at Scott's Ferry is a lovely communal place to bait with easy access and good catches. Easy access is gained from the path behind the house to the river.
Flyfishing for trout is another past time enjoyed by some locals and visitors.
There's also swimming, pipi gathering, sand hill surfing, kite flying, drone flying, black berry picking, and kayaking, building driftwood huts, gathering shells and sea glass, beach combing.
Scott's Ferry boasts some amazing vege gardens. The soil is easy to work and everything seems to grow easy and well. New potatoes for Christmas taste so good from Scott's Ferry.
Take a bottle of wine down to the beach and watch the amazing sunsets.
Firewood for miles along the beach, and pinecones in the forestry for your fire. Easy gathering and free.
Plenty of room on the front lawn for the family to pitch a tent or bring the camper, or they could stay in the small camp ground at Scott's Ferry.
